Traditional thanksgiving dinner

Helping Families for Thanksgiving

We want everyone to have a happy Thanksgiving which falls on November 26 this year. This awesome holiday is a time to be thankful for all the things we do have and to take some time and appreciate our family and friends. Unfortunately for some there are financial burdens that keep some families from enjoying a good meal.

Every year there are a lot of non-profit organizations and churches that collect food and financial donations to help those families in need.

Throughout Pinellas County there are children that will not be able to enjoy a Thanksgiving turkey with all the trimmings, but there are some things you can do. Go online and look for local food banks, churches, or community groups that are donating to your communities hungry families. One such local donation program is a group called Neighbors Helping Neighbors who has partnered with Radius Church in St. Petersburg.

Mac ‘n cheese, green beans, corn stuffing, cranberry sauce and sweet potatoes are donations being accepted at certain sponsorship locations such as:

  • Green Bench Brewing, 1133 Baum Ave. N
  • Black Crow Coffee, 2157 1st Ave. S
  • Swahrey, 2105 Central Ave.
  • Pizza Box, 923 Central Ave.

They are also collecting financial donations that will be used to also feed the families in the area. A financial donation of $35 will feed a family of five according to Hungry For A Day (also a sponsor of this event). If you would like to donate any financial contribution you may do so online at Donate

We hope everyone has a great day and enjoys all the fun events that leads up to Thanksgiving day and be sure to set time aside for the after turkey dinner nap!
